SOCOTEC Certification Singapore issued MTCS certification last October, approving the security processes set up around Microsoft's cloud services offered in Singapore.
The Multi-Tier Cloud Security (MTCS) standard is a national Singaporean standard that aims to approve the existing IT security systems of Cloud service providers.
Based on international standards such as ISO/IEC 27001 on information security management systems (ISMS), the MTCS standard is specific to Singapore. Companies in Singapore require it in most of their invitations to bid for services including data hosting. To develop its flagship products such as Office 365 or Azure in the city state, Microsoft was duty bound to obtain this certificate.
As it had already issued the same certification for Alibaba Singapore, the expertise of SOCOTEC Certification Singapore imposed itself in this respect. Our auditors went through 535 control points with a fine-tooth comb, validating all the processes required by the certification framework, then issued Microsoft with a level-3 certificate, the highest level, confirming their "capacity to host high-impact data for regulated organizations with the strictest certification demands".
The certificate was awarded by Chief Executive Officer of SOCOTEC Hervé Montjotin on 12 October last.
