The SOCOTEC Group has stepped up its Building Information Modelling (BIM) activities by taking a stake in French startup BIM in Motion.
Set up in 2015, BIM in Motion is one of the first companies to offer BIM-mode support services to construction industry project owners and players.
As a specialist in digitalisation of construction and real estate activities, BIM in Motion offers support and consultancy for project management with a range of Capex-stage Employers Representative services and BIM Management services.
With six employees in Lyon, Paris and Montpellier, BIM in Motion participates in residential and service-sector construction projects, as well as infrastructure projects. It is also active in City Information Modelling (CIM) through the BIM project for the EpaMarne business park, and is coordinating the BIM TYPE Convention as part of a call for projects for PTNB, the French government’s plan for digital transition in buildings.
The aim of acquiring this stake is to support the growth of BIM in Motion, and also to accelerate the rollout of SOCOTEC’s BIM services, especially at its 135 Construction & Real Estate branches in France.
The transaction also steps up SOCOTEC’s own digital transition, following the launch of a full range of BIM services at the beginning of the year: BIM Employers Representative (Capex stages), BIM Employers Representative (Opex stages) and BIM Certifications.
